Oculy

Oculoplastic consultation and qualification for eyelid surgery

Every procedure at Oculy starts with a conversation with the doctor and an examination. This is where we find the cause of the problem, which procedure makes sense, and whether you can have it safely.

Who leads the consultation?

The consultation is led by Anna Śnieżek, MD, the oculoplastic surgeon who then performs the procedure. The person who assesses your eyelids and plans the operation is the same person who carries it out and checks your healing.

Online or in person?

An online consultation (video call) is a convenient first step, especially for patients travelling from abroad. The doctor makes a preliminary assessment, answers your questions and discusses possible solutions, an approximate cost and dates.

Final qualification always takes place during an in-person examination before surgery. Some things – such as the strength of the eyelid-lifting muscle or the condition of the eye surface – cannot be reliably assessed over a camera.

How to prepare

  • list your medication and supplements (especially blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs),
  • note any chronic conditions: high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disease, bleeding disorders,
  • bring records of previous eye or eyelid procedures (including laser vision correction),
  • bring your glasses or contact lenses if you use them,
  • photos of yourself from several years ago help show how the eye area has changed,
  • for an online consultation, sit close to the camera in good, even light, without eye make-up.

What the doctor assesses

  • position and symmetry of the eyelids and brows,
  • the amount of excess skin and bulging fat,
  • lid margin position and levator muscle strength (ruling in or out ptosis),
  • lower-lid tension and the risk of it turning out,
  • eyelid closure, tear film and signs of dry eye,
  • skin condition and any lesions that need removal or testing,
  • your general health and contraindications.

What we will talk about

We will ask what bothers you most and what result you hope for. The doctor will explain what can be achieved and what surgery will not change, possible complications, what healing looks like and how much time to set aside for it. Ask anything that worries you – there are no bad questions.

After the consultation

  1. You receive recommendations: the proposed procedure, its price and a list of tests and preparations.
  2. If you wish, we set a surgery date. For patients travelling to Katowice we help plan the stay – see our packages with accommodation.
  3. You have time to decide calmly. We do not push for a quick booking.

The doctor may also conclude that surgery is not indicated for you, or that other tests are needed first. Honest qualification is part of safety.

Frequently asked questions

Does a consultation commit me to surgery?

No. The consultation is for assessment and information. You decide about surgery yourself, in your own time.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed for a private consultation.

Can I book surgery right after an online consultation?

You can provisionally reserve a date. Final qualification takes place during the in-person examination before surgery.

This page is for information only and does not replace a medical consultation. Eligibility for any procedure is decided by the doctor after an examination.
